Fall Back & Replace Smoke Detector Batteries!

Sunday, November 2nd at 2 a.m. is the end of Daylight Saving Time! Don’t forget to turn your clocks back an hour before bedtime on Saturday and, equally important, change the batteries in all of your smoke detectors. You might just save a life by doing so!

Be sure to test your smoke detector after changing the battery. Don’t assume that it works; you may have inadvertently loosened a wire or the connection may not be properly reset. And while you’re at it, check to see if YOUR smoke detector has been recalled. If your smoke detector does not work properly when tested, is older than ten years or has been recalled, call Nisat Electric at (214) 536-5555 right away to schedule your smoke detector repair or replacement. Working smoke detectors save lives!

Looking forward to having an extra hour in bed on Sunday morning? We don’t have any tips for this problem; if you’ve found a solution, please comment below!

Five SIX Tips to ‘Fall Back’ From Daylight Saving Time

Experts suggest everyone should take steps to minimize the adjustment period. According to this ABC News article, Dr. Yosef Krespi, director of the New York Head and Neck Institute’s Center for Sleep Disorders, says “It will hit you Sunday evening, but if your body clock is tuned to waking up with sunlight, you’re going to benefit.”

1. Wake Up at a Normal Time Sunday Morning
2. Change Your Smoke Detector Batteries
3. Eat Well and Exercise
4. Get a Good Night’s Sleep Sunday Night
5. Try a Low Dose of Melatonin
6. Know That Your Body Will Adjust

Have you ever considered that ending Daylight Saving Time in favor of having daylight begin an hour earlier is dangerous? If so, you’re not alone. According to this article in Time, keeping the hour of sunlight in the evening rather than earlier in the day could prevent traffic deaths and save more than 170 lives annually.
