WARNING: The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued recalls for four smoke alarms/detectors this year.
Your life and home could be at greater risk if you have one of these models! Check to see if you have one of these units and find out what you should do:
- Siemens Recalls Audible Fire Alarm Base Due to Risk of Injury (9/18/14): Affected models include SBGA-34 Audible Base. The audible base and fire detectors are used with several alarm systems; check the list at CPSC to find out if you are affected. Details
- Kidde Recalls Smoke and Combination Smoke/CO Alarms Due to Alarm Failure (9/11/14): Affected models include i12010S, i12010SCO, KN-COSM-IBA. Details
- ESL, Interlogix Hard-Wired Smoke Alarms Recalled Due to Failure to Alert Consumers of a Fire (8/13/14): Affected models include 400 series: 429AT, 429C, 429CAD, 429CRT, 429CST, 429CT, 429CTAD, 449AT, 449C, 449CRT, 449CSRH, 449CSRT, 449CST, 449CSTE, 449CT and 449CTE as well as 500 Series: 511C, 518C, 521B, 521BXT, 521B-10PKDMP, 521B-10PKG, 521BXT-10PKG, 521BXT-DMP-10PKG, 528B, 528CRXT, 541C, 541C-10PKG, 541CXT, 541CXT-10PK and 548C. - Nest Labs Recalls to Repair Nest Protect Smoke + CO Alarms Due to Failure to Sound Alert (5/21/14): Affected models include all Nest Protect Smoke + CO alarms. The alarms are made of black or white plastic and are about 5.25 inches square with rounded corners and about 1.5 inches deep. Details
